Since its launch in October 2009, How To Write Badly Well has dispensed advice to aspiring authors of rubbish the world over. Each post on the blog suggests a specific way to write badly, complete with a paragraph-length example of that technique in action. With advice such as “Write in a modern, accessible way,” “Skip blithely between tenses” and “Learn about syllepsis, then refuse to stop using it,” How To Write Badly Well aims to help its readers become the cream of the crap. To date, it has attracted around half a million visitors – by carefully following the advice the blog gives, perhaps one of them could be the next Dan Brown or Stephanie Meyer. In August 2010, a live comedy show based on the blog premiered at the Homework literary cabaret night in Bethnal Green, London. You can watch the show in its entirety on YouTube. |
