Who Writes This Crap? by Joel Stickley & Luke Wright was published in hardback by Hamish Hamilton in 2007 and in Penguin paperback in 2008. Taking the form of a day in the life of a nameless everyman, the book charts 24 hours of modern life through the written rubbish that surrounds us. Starting with the instructions on a bottle of shampoo and ending with drunken text messages at 3am, Who Writes This Crap? leaves no page of small print unturned. In 2008, a live comedy show of Who Writes This Crap? premiered at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in the prestigious Underbelly venue. It received four-star reviews across the board and sold out, attracting more than a thousand punters over the course of the festival. It went on to tour UK theatres in 2009. “An inspired piece of parody.” The Guardian “No piece of writing escapes the satirical re-invention of these two acclaimed performance poets. Great fun - LOL funny.” Big Issue “Effortless satire – humour for everyone.” ThreeWeeks “Who Writes This Crap owes its superb strike-rate to the fatuity and vacuity of all the verbal junk it so accurately mimics. From fancy snack foods to corporate disclaimers, they leave no brand of modern toxic text unscorned.” The Independent |
